Sunday 1st March 2026.

Thanks for enduring.  To recap.  Life with a permanent live-in carer can be difficult.  Life for a live-in carer can be extremely difficult especially if the cared for are a couple of crochety old octogenarians.

No news from Brighton but no news is good news?

Big Titty arrives next week.

More importantly a chaffinch visited the bird feeder today, first for years.

Monday 2nd March 2026.

The bizarre creations of AI defy all understanding don't you think G?  I might employ it to develop my 'game changing' idea if my Ancient Intelligence becomes inactive.  If!

Tuesday 3rd March 2026.

No Artificial Intelligence here.  Just a ray of sunshine.

Wednesday 4th March 2026.

Regular readers of this riveting blog will know that the above ray of sunshine is our Great Granddaughter Rosa. What can you say?

She must have heard that Great Grandfather has sold Little Titty and is awaiting delivery of Big Titty.  Regular readers will know what G G Father means.

Friday 6th March 2026.

Of course, when Big Titty arrives I might change the name to Reginald.  I might put it to a vote.

Sunday 8th March 2026.

I expect you watched the opening race in this year's F1 season in Melbourne.  I tried to stay awake!  Anyway, the new rules allow a lot more battery power extracted from the KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).  Nobody knows it yet but it will be used to boil your kettle.  Watch this space.

Writing a great story for FEDORA Magazine (Federation of Oxshott Residents Association) but they don't know it yet.  Watch this space.

Time for a snooze.

Tuesday 10th March 2026.

Getting used to a live in carer is a bit of a nightmare for all involved, but if you change them regularly you might find the right one.   Any applicants?  Job includes money for food, money for travel, free electricity, free central heating, use of fridge, use of freezer ,use of washing machine (no dishwasher), use of cooker, use of microwave, plenty of time off to explore local amenities, but beware creaky floorboards or you will be history.

Thursday 12th March 2026.

Dear Regular Reader,

Nice to see you back.  I expect you could do with a live in carer but beware live in carers, unless it's me!

Despite my advanced age today I got the breakfast, cleaned out the cupboards full of out of date biscuits, did the washing up, entertained guests, got the lunch, paid the window cleaner and put the bins out.  Do I get the job?

There were a few other things but short term memory failing fast, long term memory crystal clear.

Happy birthday Rebecca, Maddie and Phoebe, hope you like your cards.

Loadsa love,

G G Bob.

Friday 13th March 2026.

Despite many attempts to get any feedback from Brighton regarding you know what, zilch, stony silence, deathly hush, not a dickey so, what does that mean?  Back to the drawing board?  Great if I could see!

Sunday 15th March 2026.

Dear All,

It seems that the planet is being torn to shreds because of the energy contained in a barrel of oil.  It also seems that the energy waiting to be tapped contained in one tide is not being used, why?  Because nobody understands how easy it is to extract energy from surface tidal streams.

A lot less pollution, no more birds or fish being chopped up by rotating blades, what's not to like?

I rest my case,

Bob.

Bog Titty might arrive tomorrow.

Monday 16th March 2026.

Just for the record Big Titty arrived today for test drive, following a great deal of scooting, umming and arring G G Father decided to adopt her.  Might be a picture tomorrow.

Tuesday 17th March 2026.

This is G G Bob aboard Reg, not Big Titty.  Impressed?  With Reg not Bob!

Wednesday 18th March 2026.

Is this a Harley?  Or is this a Harley?  No, it's Reg at The Cobham Mill.  It would make a great painting don't you think G.  Next plein air session I'll bring the sandwiches!

Thursday 19th March 2026.

Life at 3 mph suits.  Try it some time.

Friday 20th March 2026.

What did I tell you, headlines today. 'Work from home and drive more slowly to save energy, global body urges'.

Saturday 21st March 2026.

Meanwhile severely disabled Great Gran, bless her, retains the ability to deliver sharp arrows of criticism when things are out of place and not up to standard.  Which is often.  Correction, relentless.

Meanwhile today  is Spring Equinox which means it's sunshine and blossom all the way.  Hopefully.

Wish I was there.

Sunday 22nd March 2026.

The above is, of course, our little Rosa attempting to hold back the tide.

Monday 23rd March 2026.

Popped to the shops a few times today aboard Reg but no springs to take out the effects of the lumps and bumps in the pavement - despite claims by the manufacturer to the contrary.  Had an email from Damian in Poland, the manufacturers, to say they've got springs but proof is in the bottom Damian.  I will, of course, be asking for detailed drawings!

Tuesday 24th March 2026.

I expect my regular reader is wondering why I bother with such trivialities?  Well. it's all to do with the remaining brain cell which needs a challenge, otherwise might as well give up.  Bliss!  You've forgotten I got £50 out of Waitrose for reporting yellow reduced stickers sometimes charge you double.  So, there you go.  Another reason to watch this space.

Damian from Poland just came back with a great video of all the springs and dampers in action.  So, there you go.  Available on request.

Thursday 26th March 2026.

This might sound like 'cool beans' but what does old and decrepit great grandfather do when he gets earache, continuously, from great grandmother.  Even after making the house warm, making the breakfast, doing the shopping, cooking the dinner (thanks to No 1 Angel), running around like a blue arsed fly, fetching, carrying, gardening, opening windows, closing windows, opening curtains, closing curtains and all achieved with a jolly spirit.  I know what you are thinking!

Well?

Saturday 28th March 2026.

What can you say?

Mods and Rockers?

Monday 30th March 2026.

The above modes of transport are somewhat limited.  For the rocker (on the left) life is limited to the availability of others to assist which is highly frustrating to say the least.  For the Mod (on the right) life is limited by the availability of footpaths which, in this part of the world, is highly frustrating to say the least.  The machine is 'road legal' but at 8 mph max the frustration would be transferred to others which might mean curtains.  Such is 'life' when fast approaching 90.  Not mph!

Thinks, might campaign for a cycle track from here to Denbies!

Wednesday 1st April 2026.

82 years ago today at 4am on the 1st of April 1944 (I was 5) a bomb flattened two cottages in Oxshott.  I, along with my parents and a family of 4 next door were in the cottages but miraculously we all survived.  The incredible, amazing, unbelievable story will be carried in the Spring Edition of Fedora Magazine later this month.  You can access it HERE.  Autumn 2018 edition is also worth a look!

Thursday 2nd April 2026.

Mending the fence today, great therapy.  If you can see the nails!

Happy Easter.

Tuesday 7th April 2026.

Struggling to maintain equilibrium today, that means 'a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced' but it is April 7th!

Wednesday 8th April 2026.  (Phew!)

Looks like an attack of Labyrinthitis or Vestibular Neuritis which means you don't know where you are or what you are doing.  It's an inner ear problem.  So, don't drink alcohol, use machinery or mend fences and it might go away in a few days.  Do lie in a darkened room, go for a walk, stare at an object rather than scan and avoid bright lights. In other words 'Carry on Dreaming'.

Thursday 9th April 2026.

Moving at 0.5 m/s (that's about 1 mph) with unstoppable force just about describes my Proposal for Tidal Energy which you've probably forgotten about but fear not things are about to happen.  It also describes the movements of great grandfather otherwise he might fall over.

Staggering across the car park of the A & E Dept of St Peter's Hospital Chertsey in your pyjamas and slippers with a Phantom of the Opera face mask, leaning on Angel No2 at 2 am in the morning was not a dream.  It was the result of silly old Bob blacking out when putting the bins out.  Sparing you the gory details an ambulance arrived in super quick time and dumped him in the A & E Dept.  Wheeled past the avenues of trolleys in the corridors he anticipated being left to rot in his cubicle.  Far from it,  Following assessment, blood tests, ECG, reaction tests, CT head scan  young Dr Celia dug out bits of tarmac from his face, stitched up the deep gouges, stuck a protective mask on, checked stability and sent him packing to Pyrford.

Thanks to Tim, Emma, Maddie and Phoebe and Rose the cat he is being looked after like never before.  Bliss.  Meanwhile great gran is being looked after by live in Carer Sandra back at the ranch perfectly relaxed now that great grandad is not around to disrupt proceedings.

Pyford is not far from Fairoaks but the thought of flying is not on great grandfather's mind!

Checking for loose screws.

Don't forget Angel Radio for a Saturday Night pick-me-up.  If you are 87 plus!

Monday 13th April 2026.

Reason for wobblies, heart rate on a par with a marathon runner, i.e. 50 bpm.

#Speed up, you're movin' too slow.

Tuesday 14th April 2026.

Good news from Brighton, invited to attend presentation session in May if if able and stable.  Watch this space.

Meanwhile watch this tranquil view from 'hospital' bed.  Cosy?

Wednesday 15th April 2026.

Becoming more able and stable thanks to 'Angels' and (no apologies) Angel Radio.  Great therapy if you're 87 plus!  Annoys many but past caring.  Really sorry?

The above contraption is, of course, a walking frame for wobbly old folk, very reassuring when you are a wobbly old person.  8 yrars ago I wasn't so wobbly!

Friday 17th April 2026.

Spent the day practising walking without wobbling and dozing with Rose (the cat).

Saturday 18th April 2026.

Had the opportunity to visit The Harry Edwards Healing Centre in the hills above Shere today.  If you want peace, tranquility, serenity, stunning silence and meet an Angel or two in a Church like setting do pop in.  You will be allowed to wander at will in and out of the 'chapels' and gardens without hindrance.  And, at this time of the year the bluebells, blossom busy bees, butterflies, blue skies, fluffy clouds and birds will transport you to Nirvana.  What more is there?  Maybe Badgers!

The Harry Edwards Healing Centre is unique, click HERE to find out more.

Monday 20th April 2026.

By the way, if you leave your name and problem on a piece of paper at The Harry Edwards Healing Centre you will receive remote healing from an Angel for free.  All healing sessions are free but you are requested to donate what you think is appropriate.

Great grandad is hoping his request to fix the gyroscope in his artificial horizon will be granted.  Watch this space.

You will be pleased to hear that G G Father is now back home after a ten day recovery and respite stay in Pyrford with his Angels.  Great grandmother is quite pleased.  Quite pleased!

Wednesday 22nd April 2026.

Two people in the UK wan £41 million apiece on Euromillions last night, it wasn't me, was it you?

Scooted up the clinic on Reg yesterday (twice) for more pills and a Covid Booster jab while I was waiting for the pills..  Also to Waitrose to get a free Gu sweet.  Does life get more interesting than this?

Thursday 23rd April 2026.

Learn to live with limited horizon's and you won't go far wrong is the lesson for today.

So, had a chat with Robot Reg who makes car number plates, I asked him if he make a Reg' plate for Reg my mobility scooter as I now have a Reg' from DVLA.  Robot Reg was a bit confused at first but he reckons he can so watch the space.  A Reg' plate for Reg will be great.

Friday 24th April 2024.

Another visit to The Harry Edwards Healing Centre yesterday, this time for Great Gran but unfortunately she was in no mood for healing, all G G Father's fault (again) but nevertheless the ethereal atmosphere was still there in abundance.

Went for a couple of journeys on Reg today.  One to rejoin Cobham Garden Club which brought back many memories of tending my allotment.  One memory was of old Ron on the allotment next to me, he only used his allotment for storing grass from his lawn mowing business.  It burst into flames often.  Great in the winter!

The other journey was to the library to borrow a large print book, so what does that tell you?  Looks like a Kindle might be the answer.  Thanks Cliff.

Sunday 26th April 2026.

If you are an avid reader of this fascinating blog you will know that I tried to engage with an outfit called Gravitricity.com.  They had a crap idea of generating electricity from bloody great weights falling down disused mine shafts and hauling the weights back up at night using cheap electricity.  Today I discovered that, not surprisingly, they have gone into liquidation.  Nevertheless their technology and patents might be useful in the horizontal instead of the vertical.  Haven't a clue what I'm thinking?  Watch this space.
